OKRA 2025 held from July 2 to 5 at Oripää Airport in Southwest Finland – welcomed hundreds of exhibitors and tens of thousands of visitors. First launched in 1980, OKRA has grown into one of Finland’s largest and most important agricultural events. For example, in 2014 it drew more than 80,000 visitors and over 600 exhibitors, making it a true landmark for the Finnish farming community.
Despite the occasional rainy skies during OKRA, the atmosphere remained full of energy. True to form, Finnish farmers didn’t let the weather slow them down – walking from booth to booth, chatting with specialists like it was any regular summer day. As we often say here: “Emme ole sokerista tehtyjä” – we’re not made of sugar. And this year’s OKRA was a perfect example of that resilient spirit.

A landmark year for Hankkija team
This year was particularly special for us at Hankkija, as we celebrate 120 years of supporting Finnish farming. To mark occasion, we brought together our full expertise across 4,500 m² stand. From grains, machinery, and feeds to crop production and services, our departments came together to form one united experience. And it wasn’t just about showing products . It was about being present, listening, and connecting with the people who keep agriculture moving forward.

It was inspiring moment to see so many parts of our team working together – researchers, technical specialists, sales and marketers – all reflecting the full circle of agricultural support that Hankkija provides to farmers in Finland and abroad. Being part of this wheel of knowledge, support, and innovation is something we’re deeply proud of. It felt like being part of not just a company, but a living, growing part of Finnish agricultural heritage.

Innovations that sparked conversations
Among the wide range of products presented at OKRA, our flagship innovations – ProHumi® and Resipro® Foam – stood out as highlights for many visitors.
ProHumi® Farm — Natural enrichment with real impact
ProHumi® Farm – natural enrichment material developed to support gut function and animal welfare, is already widely used by Finnish farmers. It was rewarding to hear firsthand how it keeps pigs engaged for weeks and contributes to calmer behaviour. This kind of feedback is especially relevant as tail docking is increasingly restricted across Europe. While Finland has banned routine tail docking since 2003, the Netherlands is planning to fully phase it out by 2030. And other countries are following suit under the EU’s Farm to Fork strategy and EFSA guidelines. This means producers will need to rely on alternative tools to manage aggression and ensure welfare without compromising productivity. In this context, natural enrichment materials like ProHumi® are becoming more important than ever to help maintain productivity and welfare without tail docking.

Resipro® Foam – a foaming detergent for farm hygiene
The other innovation presented at OKRA – Resipro® Foam, our natural foaming detergent for livestock hygiene also drew a great attention from farmers and visitors. It was not only because of its natural composition and strong cleaning performance, but also thanks to its impressive foaming properties, which many were eager to see in action. It was truly satisfying to watch visitors test the foam on-site and engage in discussions with our product developers and specialists. Our team shared insights into the science behind Resipro® Foam and how it supports both biosecurity and animal welfare. The interest and feedback we received reaffirmed the importance of innovation in hygiene practices on modern farms.

Both products reflect Hankkija’s commitment to creating practical, sustainable solutions for modern farming.
OKRA as a mirror of Finnish agriculture – and Hankkija at the heart of it
OKRA is more than just an agricultural exhibition – it’s a mirror of Finnish farming, reflecting its values and spirit. Everytime it brings together everyone from next-generation farmers and researchers to long-standing producers, all united by a shared goal: to keep agriculture evolving in a responsible and sustainable way.
For us at Hankkija, OKRA is a reminder of why we do what we do. It’s where we don’t just show our products – we listen, learn, and collaborate. Our role isn’t just to supply tools or technologies – it’s to be a partner in progress.

As we continue celebrating our 120th anniversary, this year’s OKRA proved something important once again. The strongest foundations are built not only on expertise – but also on trust, connection, and a shared commitment to growing better together.
